Hi All,
advise sought....
We have a customer that requires us to fabricate a bespoke piece of lifting equipment which has a frame, an electric winch and castors. It will be used to lift 205 lt barrells of a bund so its not big kit, probably not disimilar to an engine lift? The electric winch will be requird to traverse along the top beam. He has asked for it to be ATEX certified and we have looked into ATEX winch and castors. In terms of the frame, would we have to consider spark generation via static and look at earthing straps, or whatever? I'm reasonable up on the DSEAR side of things re the solvent concentrations but not so wise on the ATEX side?
Approved, certified or to the standard? Can we self certify and state on our paperwork that ATEX approved items have been used, or does it require independant certification by a third party?
Any document I might easily get hold of?

You need to get the clients DSEAR risk assessment and understand which zone this will be operating in as you could self certify it dependant on his zoning...
