Is it correct that this scheme is about to be scrapped, it has not been running long and the government seem to think that it is not working.Opinions please.

This subject was 'reported' back in March, here:

http://www.constructinge...llence.org.uk/blog/?p=56

and then this page reported in April,

http://www.360environmen..._waste_management_plans/

Quote:
The Government has announced (April 2012) that Site Waste Management Plans are to be scrapped although they have not yet indicated when or whether something else will be put in their place.

the 'announcement' is on page 4 of,

It seems many clients do not like having a responsibility for waste management - especially when it highlights the late changes to specifications even after purchase of materials.

Another 100 ton of marble tiles bite the dust for being the wrong colour!!!!!

I understand that the cost of landfill tax is due to rise from the current level of £64 per tonne to £80 per tonne in the next two years. This should provide enough encouragement for construction companies to reduce, recycle, recover and re-use materials without the need for a written plan. I think the Government's objection was to the paperwork that the plans create which are rarely if ever inspected or monitored by any external enforcement bodies.
