Yes not good but there were 20 in 2003, so reasonably constant. Construction looks like they have done well but, is it just that construction activities are down for the last few years.
Interesting to compare this info against the info from the other thread though.
Did like the simplicity of the information.

Chris,
Construction activity has been decimated in the both the commercial and domestic sectors since the downturn.
BUT domestic activity in the construction sector in both the UK and ROI markets, will take a further downturn, once EU regulations placing H&S obligations on the householder (i.e., making them take on the role as client in a similar fashion to those in the commercial sector) which could put people off undertaking extensions etc.

Looks like Death from construction work has increased by 33%.
This is worrying as construction work has dropped. I know of a few householders in the State that have postponed major home improvements over the property tax.

In relation to your observation, 'once EU regulations placing H&S obligations on the householder (i.e., making them take on the role as client in a similar fashion to those in the commercial sector)' can you indicate the sources of timescales for implementation of these EU regulations in Ireland and in the UK, please?

Hi Kieran,
Implementation in the Republic will be approximately around the summer (July/August).
With regard to the UK, it will be whenever HMG decide to transpose it into their legislation.

Thank you, Ciaran
I'll look out for these innovations, which in principle may well be in the right direction. Safe, healthy working is generally more reliable yet may not necessarily always be cost-free in the short run, as the data on the agricultural sector indicate.
The innovations also create a market opportunity for a niche H & S consultancy to facilitate householder-clients to fulfil their responsibilities - as a very innovative practice combining HR & OSH services (and led by a Grad IOSH) is demonstrating in the agricultural sector in the UK, mainly in Oxford-Cambridge zone.
