Hydraulic oils are themselves potentially nasty products, and very high pressure systems may have an injection or penetrating injury risk. In other respects, hydraulic systems have some parallels with electrical or pneumatic systems. i.e. safe isolation during maintenance is imperative. I recall some high energy military radar scanners that could have chopped a person in half!
