Holiday somewhere warm does it for me. Her indoors & myself always have our main holiday in jan/feb Next week a nice cold beer will be my main priority.

Rank: Super forum user		Garfield, Looking at where you are have you considered you might be suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder - I think). I realised just under a year ago that I was always very low in Jan/Feb and so bought one of those trendy, hippy medicine SAD light boxes. I now use it while chomping down my breakfastand I am honestly impressed with the results, speaking as a sceptical non believer in all that chrystals, yogic meditation happy clappy stuff..... Jim

Rank: Super forum user		“Brick wall syndrome” seems more like you are not having problems with H&S but with other people. Perhaps it is SAD from above, but “Safety Avoidance Disorder”. Go hug a tree, it will not do any good, but the men in white coats may come and take you away for a little holiday.

I think it is my mid life crisis - just hit 41 (Mentally 20, physically 60!) and thinking that I really need to get a shuffle on and try and get a job closer to home (But nothing in S Wales or very little) Although job is secure for the next 6 months I won't hold out much hope after that. I do like my job though. Now in two minds about changing career and studying something else but unsure what as nothing is tickling my fancy. Just feel so "blurrghh" at the moment so may try one of those light box things previously mentioned. Then lots of lager if that fails.

Rank: Forum user		I bought a small holding and got into farming. You think safety is bad, the AML2 pig movement order and associated legislation made me get back into safety pretty quick. I have to local bee inspector visit as well and its against the law for me to have a compost heap. Labelling for honey, right ink for date stamping eggs, blah, blah blah.

Rank: Super forum user		There isn't one bees regularly nest in compost heaps. However, regulations require compost heaps to have a licence and an environmental risk assessment if the compost heap is within 250 metres of a dwelling or workplace. The penalty for failing to get a licence is a £5,000 fine. It's not really enforced and as most councils encourage composting it's a bit of a mix up.

Rank: Forum user		Can't have a compost heap as potato peelings and veg waste might come into contact with meats in the kitchen and be eaten by the free range chickens. If I don't have free range chickens I can compost or not compost items that have been in the kitchen. Fear of disease spread and a European thing so I imagine the French are enforcing it robustly as well.
