What qualifications and or membership of professional bodies would you need for this? Ignore NEBOSH, IOSH etc - what are the accepted criteria?

There are currently no set criteria, the usual 'must be competent' has been applied by our LA Fire inspector.
There have been a couple of attempts to get something set up. The Institute of Fire engineers (IFE) has the following document: http://www.ife.org.uk/fr...t_fire_risk_assessor.pdf which gives some guidance.
Without ignoring NEBOSH etc, I have the Diploma but have recently completed (waiting for marks) the Fire RA Certificate, then progressing on to deeper training with IFE or similar - there are a couple of other threads about options for training.
Depends on the risk being assessed, I am comfortable about domestic HMO and low risk industrial. Working up towards higher risks with experience and further training.
