We intend upgrading one of our buildings. The actual dismantling of current building and replacement will take place next year (start April 2014) and is expected to last 4 to 5 months - I know that this makes it a notifiable CDM project, In a few weeks time we need to ascertain the geology of the area we are intending to bring in experts to dig trial holes - this part of the project will last 1 week max. Do I need to raise the F10 now before the trial hole work for the whole project? or are they distinctly different enough to warrant only the main project next year to be notifiable?

I would suggest that would be considered survey/enabling work so not part of the construction phase - not notifiable DNW
