The Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council has published a guide for the RP and Dutyholders on where they can find competent fire risk assessors.

The Guide can be downloaded from the following links:

ANother document to be ignored.

A document by an interested body, no weight behind it

Hilarious!! I do love the smell of professional cynicism in the morning!!

I have to agree with you that yet another 'competence' system doesn't help anyone. Assessors simply cannot afford to be on all of the schemes, and customers are going to be confused which list to look at.

This is very much like the VHS or Betamax video issue of the 70s/80s. I am hanging on until I know which scheme is going to be the most popular/industry norm, or until registration is mandatory (which cannot happen unless the three bits of UK fire legislation are amended)

The problem with cynicism is that it often prevents an objective view.

Despite the rather pompous title they have chosen it appears to be a working committee formed of stakeholders in the sector.

The referred document is actually nothing more than a guide to assist duty holders on how they can get their FRA done. It doesn't introduce any additional body or competences and clearly refers to existing professional and other bodies in its content and appendix.

It may well prove of benefit to those seeking guidance on such matters and therefore hardly a matter for dismissal as yet another worthless and unwanted organisation?
