I have had my letter telling me that the HSE are going to call and look at the cooling towers we have on site. I am happy to facilitate a visit if they wish, nothing to hide here. I will also complete their on line survey but I see that there is a log in reference to use before commencement of the survey so I have no way of getting a heads up on the type of questions they are asking. It would be nice to know what the questions are so that I can get the documentation ready to provide a timely and accurate answer.

Can anyone help me with the type of questions being asked? Thanks in anticipation. Graham

Hi Graham,

I completed the questionnaire a few weeks ago, so I'm a bit rusty - but they ask fairly standard questions.

- How many cooling towers/evaporative condensers?
- How often do they run? Continuous or seasonal?
- Are they subject to regular maintenance, cleaning and infill replacement?
- Questions on monitoring regime
- When last legionella risk assessment was undertaken.
- Have you had legionella present in the system in the past 12/24 months?
- Do you have a designated competent contractor undertaking your waste management?
- Do you have documentation in place nominating responsible person on site?

Um.........I'm sure there were a few more questions, but I've slept since I filled the questionnaire in.

It doesn't take much more than 15-20 mins at maximum.

hope this helps,

regards,

Andrea

Think "any ongoing treatment" was also asked.
