Can anyone tell me the difference between an health and safety Advisor and an Officer. Is it the same role under a different name or does either role have more responsibility

The job title means nothing.
It is the responsibilities and accountabilities laid out in the job description that counts. And all too often clear guidelines are missing and thats where confusion starts

I agree with David H.
Its what's in the job description that counts. I have just moved to a new company, my last role was health and safety officer, I am now health and safety controller. I have moved up a rung on the health and safety job ladder, not because of the title, but because the job description gives me more responsibilities in that role.
