Hi,

I am currently working in a H&S Manager position, my experience has been gained within maintenance / manufacturing industries.

I am seeking to move into a new direction and am seeking a new role in health & social care / charitable organisation. I have developed strong interests into the provision of Health & Safety for vulnerable persons and young people. I have enroled to do the CIEH in Health & Social Care, is there anything else that I should look at doing to improve my chances?

I am NEBOSH Cert, due to have my Diploma completed in 2014, various other H&S Certificates as normal and 7 years experience gained in safety positions.
I have gained a good amount of experience volunteering with Children in Care and in a paid capacity mentoring Young Offenders. I have also in the last year completed OCN Grief, Trauma and the Helping Relationship, OCN Young Mentoring, ASIST Suicide Intervention and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults as I believe these all to be relevant in gaining an insight into this sector etc.

Is there anybody doing a Health & Safety Position within Health & Social Care / Young Persons charity that can offer me some advice as to how to best move forward?

Many thanks

I also have my CIPD Certificate in Training Practice, would it be worth me doing course such as Infection Control and Patient Moving and Handling again to get a better insight?

All thoughts and advice welcome

Thanks : )

Safetypipper,
Since nobody has responded to you I thought I would give you my tuppence worth from my limited experience. This work is a small part of our organisation.
I think infection control would be a good addition and in relation to the patient moving and handling it would probably be advisable to complete the trainers course.
Your qualifications and experience put you in a good position especially once you finish your diploma, but as with all sectors at the moment vacancies are rare and keenly fought over.
Goodluck.

Thank you for your input. Whilst the job that I am in is pretty bad, I guess that I am fortunate to have one at the minute. However will crack on trying to get myself in the best possible position for should my dream job ever appear!
