Further to previous threads that there may be some dumbing down of legislation /ACOPS /Guidance and possibilities that they may be published by Ladybird books, and revolve around Mr Men characters. I thought it would be an interesting diversion if we could suggest possible adaptations of children’s books, nursery rhymes etc, to cover H&S topics and issues.
No offence to the hard working people at the HSE intended, just light hearted musings.
I’m sure most of you are more humorous than me, but to start this off we could go with a book and nursery rhyme.
How about a book: Jack and Jill had an accident, which was not RIDDOR.
A thriller, with twists and turns in the plot as to whether or not they were working or on tea break, if working should there have been better access and egress to their point of work. Should following Jacks tumble, Jill have been stopped from carrying out the same task, as it was now known it was dangerous. Should vinegar and brown paper be in the first aid kits?
And Humpty Dumpty at height:
Humpty Dumpty was working at height,
Humpty Dumpty fell from great height,
All the first aiders and ambulance men,
Could not put Humpty together again.
Over to you

I'm rather concerned about the antics of Incy Wincy spider (sp?)
I mean come on, climbing up a spout when rain was forecast? Surely this is a breach of the Working at Heights Regulations, not to mention potentially the Confined Spaces Regulations. I submit that Mr Wincy should have performed a risk assessment before starting the task and should probably have gone up the OUTSIDE of the spout using the correct access equipment rather than trying to crawl up the inside with the obvious foreseeable risk of being washed out by the rain.
I hope the retitled "Incy Wincy climbs carefully up the outside of a spout after doing a risk assessment and taking the right precautions and doesn't mind the rain at all" will be an instant best seller.

The Three Little Pigs were clearly in breach of the CDM Regulations (Designers Duties) as well as the Building Regulations (Part A structure). Totally inadequate wind loading design.

Well that's blown it for a start - I ALWAYS imagined Incy Wincy was a woman, probably some subliminal connection to Wincy Willis the weatherwoman from yesteryear....

Strange how things revolve (no pun intended). I always understood that this children's rhyme harks back to the time of plague (a-tischoo a-tischoo we all fall down), although others reject the notion.

I feel sorry for the poor weasel - I mean, he "popped". Seems a bit extreme and why was he fed tuppeny rice and treacle - not a healthy diet even for a weasel. 'Spect he made a horrible mess :(
