You have to be careful how you say the beginning of FFI as it comes out as FIFA and then people start saying, what's that about football.... My variations would no doubt be deleted by the Mods for being nawty!

Like that lots! I find the term reminiscent of the Forces Françaises de l'Intérieur. As a result, I half expect the HSE to arrive wearing berets and trench coats, sidle up to the CEO saying: "Pay attention now, I shall say this only once!"

The many meanings of FFI include: Feline Friends Internationale, for further information, free from infection, failure to follow instructions, Foundation for Finnish Invention, fraction of faults isolated, fit for issue, fluid flow indicator, Forsvarets Forskningsinstitutt (Norwegian Defence Research Establishment), Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, Freshwater Fish of Illinois, Frozen Food Institute and Fish Farming International. The latter is a magazine and perhaps a worthy contender as a guest publication on BBC TV's "Have I Got News For You" (HIGNFY) if it hasn't already been featured along with other illustrious publications such as Hot Dip Galvanising, American Taxidermist, Seafood International, Diarrhea Digest (USA, hence the spelling) and GUT - International Journal for Gastro-Enterology and Hepatology. Apparently the Germans think GUT is really good ! :-) Just to conclude this response with a link, admittedly a tenuous one, to occupational safety and health, does anyone happen to know if IOSH's Safety & Health Practitioner (SHP) magazine has ever starred on HIGNFY?
