http://www.shponline.co....-for-legionella-failings So NI council in the dock for contracting a dodgy firm of legionnaires RA consultants. This still makes me wonder how NI council were supposed to tell whether the company was competent when commissioning the work. There are obvious checks such as referrals and looking at the quality of sample reports but how else. Are there any accreditation schemes for Legionnaires consultants?

When my organisation was going through it's tender process to appoint a legionella contractor we looked for an organisation : - that had membership of the Legionella Control Association - who could provide evidence of accredited training their staff received (City & Guilds can't remember the title of the course) - had positive references/reviews from other organisations in our field of work. While knowing no more than is in the attached article, the cynic in me would suggest that the Council will have put all its potential contractors through numerous paper exercise hoops that were never checked or verified and then got three quotes and went for the cheapest. Rodger Ker

I suggest ensuring contract terms to operate in accordance with the Code of Conduct developed jointly by the Water Management Society and the British Association for Chemical Specialities (WMS/BACS). That Code of Conduct provides a handy list of proficiency requirements to build a tender and evaluation process on.
