A Kurdziel

Speaking of rescue procedures (See ’rescue from a MEWP basket stuck at height’) I have just had a call from someone on our site about a squirrel that is ‘stuck up a tree’. They are requesting that we come up with some safe way of saving the little beastie. My response is that it is a squirrel; they climb trees (up and down) and that if it is still there when I come back on Tuesday we can get hold a of a long pole to push its frozen body off the branch. Thank you and a Happy Easter

Assuming its a grey tree rat, an airgun works fine.

The RSPCA are asking people to shoot the things if at all possible. I kid you not. They carry a pox that kills the Red. As Walkier says... pop pop

I don't know if the RS are encouraging the shooting of greys but they certainly have a relatively short lifespan in my garden! A word of caution though, do it cleanly or risk (oops that word) a run in with the RS. http://www.bbc.co.uk/new...land-manchester-21451680 If I recall correctly, the eating of squirrels is pretty widespread in the southern United States and ha been implicated in cjd cases. Anyone for rat au van?

Eliminate the problem - cut the tree down and then remove said beast from ground level?

Please don’t give the supermarkets any more ideas. You know what they'll say “Every Squirrel Helps” And bring new meaning to ESH Manager. :o)

If my experience with cats up trees is anything to go by a water jet will only encourage it to climb higher. As has been said let it do its own thing and it will climb down.

If its stuck in a tree, by definition it's not in your loft constantly gnawing though everything (including cables and copper pipes) and driving you MAD with it's noisy scurrying nocturnal activities. Dont be fooled by their fluffy Beatrix Potter/Squirrel Nutkin PR, these are pests - rats with fur coats on :)
