Hi, I wondered if any can help me.
We received information recently that the Construction products regulations (2011) will be replacing the Construction products directive and that from the 1 July 2013 CE marking of products will be mandatory for certain products which were previously voluntary under the directive. I am told that this is applicable to Road traffic signs and my company manufactures road traffic signs for major supermarket chains (for their car parks) therefore their signs are not installed onto highways but instead on their own land. Does anyone know if this will require the signs to be CE marked?
Thanks

From your post it would appear your company is making representations of signs rather than those compliant with UK regulation - in this case a CE mark should not be applied.
My company manufactures what the general public would perceive to be Construction Products. These are manufactured to harmonised European Standards (EN) or European Technical Approval (ETA) requiring a Declaration of Performance and testing to ensure they meet the local requirements - in this case a CE mark can be applied but is not mandatory.
As with most European Harmonisations interpretation of the regulation text leaves a lot to be desired around particular words "mandatory / legal / prepare an invoice".
Whilst there are many web based sources of information the Construction Products Association has a relatively brief guide on its home page.
