Hi All,
Does anyway know of minumum requirements/best practices etc for safe method of order picking in busy warehouse. Doing the RA at present and my concern is that Reach Truck & Ride On trucks and people are working in very close proximity in the warehouse. We have the standard controls, (e.g. licenced operators only, Hi vis, safety boots, hard hats) and the area is well light and maintained. However i feel uneasy seeing how close the vehicles and order pickers have to work. I cant find anything on net as main hazards identified with order picking appears to be focus on WRULDs and falls from height.
Thanks for any help guys

Safetyman - you will come across the standard guidance to keep vehicles and pedestrians apart wherever possible - which I'm sure you are doing. In a past life when I was involved in distribution centres when I had similar issues, get all parties involved from the operations e.g. DC management plan one way systems where ever possible.
Location Management Teams - get them to locate products so the pick flows and place fast moving lines where pickers don't not bunch up in the aisles or in turning points in the aisles. Heavy items in the first aisles so that cages or pallets build and the staff don’t have to rearrange loads as they are picking therefore keeping them moving.
It’s the simple stuff that makes the difference as ever.
