hello, just landed my first ever contracting role which is to support the Client in ensuring Principal Contractors fulfill their duties under CDM. as such i wont be writing any risk assessments etc. Work will involve monitoring and audit; any direct pointers i need to give will be via the Clients project engineers. I have no employees.
do you think i need public indemnity and public liability and if so £millions of each.
Thank you Steve

Without knowing what the scale and nature of the projects, difficult to assess what level of risk and hence potential liability nor how much run off time (i.e. continuing after a project is complete) that would be appropriate

Peter, thanks for reply. work is in energy sector (HV transmission and supply, refurb and new build of overhead line, cables and substations). Ive just looked through contract with the recruitment agency i'm going through and its states public liability is covered by them so good there. I see that professional indemnity starts at £130ish for 50k cover and rapidly ascends.

Plenty of scope for things to go horribly wrong.......and plenty of scope for claim against you to be FAR more than 50k!..........though in practice, claimant would probably target your client and principal contractor (lots of money in the bank) in preference to you.
