The HSE guidance has some major flaws in it- I have foryears been telling them to no avail. It is difficult to do pictur as people ar different shapes and size age etc. Eddie if you want to ring me on 07811120233 I will explain. Sorry I havnt replied earlier but I retired early at the end of february and have wanted to stay away from H&S to see what its like not having it in your life.

Hi The HSE guidance is different to what their own training organisation (HSL) say is the best technique. Also, it is just how to pick a square box up from the floor, which virtually no one does (except in manual handling training). Best to teach people techniques and methods, plus what postures are more hazardous that others. What I have used in my current and previous roles is quick demonstration videos shot doing regular tasks in the workplace. Nothing fancy, just using a digital camera. Cheap, to the point, and people like to see their colleagues and their workplace. Ian
