Can an employer insist on employees having the required vaccinations for the destination they are travelling to on Company business? Any guidance or advice will be much appreciated.

They can insist on sending only an employee who has had the recommended jabs. They cannot insist an individual has the jabs. Medical intervention is the choice of the patient.

You might be able to insist but you can’t ‘force’ or make them have them; there is a difference. I am not entirely sure, but it is possible that you could make this a contractual requirement. If they subsequently decline to have the jabs, it might be actionable as a breach of contract. I expect that some will argue that it could be a failure to co-operate under S7b but realistically ……………. Consult, talk, discuss, explain, compromise. Record! I see that david has posted while I have been typing, and I think we are thinking along the same lines. As always I am happy to be corrected.

Agree with David, and also to add they should be aware too that some countries do FORCE people to have jabs on arrival if they dont have the correct certificate (i.e. yellow fever). Else its a flight home. Des

Des, I reckon you may be right. But; they don’t actually force people to have the jab, but rather it is a requirement of entry to have one and they will refuse entry if you haven't. There is a significant difference in the 2 positions. Of course if the entry requirements to the particular country that gashead is referring to require certain jabs, then the position is relatively clear; no jab – no point in flying out.
