Afternoon
I have a presentation to a number of senior Managers/Directors coming up shortly and could do with a little help. The slides and presentation are all but done and look and feel good. What I am looking for is a couple of videos to link into my PowerPoint presentation. It occurred to me that there may be something out there such as a compilation of clips, stories, headlines that I could use. I was thinking along the lines of perhaps news articles, newspaper headlines with a common safety theme that I could digitally compile in a two or three minute clip. Also looking for a clip to round off the presentation. Something as a bit of a takeaway I guess. Any suggestions? Assistance and pointers greatly received

Good point, well made!
Presentation is around H&S Responsibilities for Senior Manager/Directors. Usual topics such as legal, moral financial reasons, Bit on Corporate mansluaghter, Section 37, reasons why H&S makes commercial sense, that avenue
Thanks

Hmm. I suppose you have to do this kind of presentation . .
I would use stories - try to find some relevant to your industry (nothing disconnects people more than being shown completely irrelevant events as 'lessons').
A complete story to capture the imagination and emotional engagement (eg. imagine the police banging on the door at 6 in the morning to cart you off in front of your family - regrettably this has happened).
How might it feel to be interviewed under PACE at a police station? Some may not realise the potential for police involvement.
Perhaps turn it more towards crisis planning - if the worst happened (and what would that look like?) how would the management team react? What could be the implications? Not just the immediate aftermath, but ongoing, as legal actions can take years. Who would (pay for) defend individuals? Staff, union, customer responses. . etc.
IOSH do a good document - the title escapes me but covers serious incident management.
And ask - how do they assure themselves that they are doing all they should? What particular actions? How often? etc.

Try a DVD called Face the FACKS (Families against corporate killings) It costs £10 but I feel is worth it. www.fack.org.uk/aboutus/
