Abrasive Wheels, enclosed guard on 4.5" machine ??

On a recent training course I was told that portable angle grinders from 2010 onwards should have a enclosed guard, similar to this http://toolsandmore.us/P...t/dewalt0315/D284931.jpg
Can anyone shed any light on the any new requirement as I cant find anything.
Thanks

I think you have to go back more than 10 years to find an angle grinder that wasn't supplied with a guard like that.
Has always (in my 25 years experience) been good practice to use such a guard

Agree with walker, the photo looks like a normal angle grinder guard to me.
Its not a new requirement, read the PUWER specifically Reg 11 about the guarding of dangerous parts of machinery and the hierarchy of controls / method of guarding
Fixed guards
Moving/semi enclosed guards/safety devices etc
Trianing and the use of jigs/push sticks etc - as appropriate.

Thanks for your input but its not a normal guard, if you look at the edge facing the bottom its more enclosed than normal.
