I know its not Friday though, this was said to me in a training course I was doing on the Friday, said in complete seriousness, worth a giggle:
"the HSE website has Safety Data Sheets on everything, from A - Zed, Acids to Zanusi's"
I knew he meant zoonoses though I thought it funny that I was only put on the course to show to our client I was competent to do COSHH assessments, lol, I have a piece of paper, I'm competent now.. show me your white goods! :)

Who on earth was running this course? The HSE could not possibly have data sheets on everything! This would run to many tens of thousands since it would not only have to encompass all individual substances but also all the many products produced using mixtures of substances! If someone can make this sort of statement I would be questioning their knowledge and competence to teach this complex topic.
I would also be interested to know the context in which this statement was made. Was it that safety data sheets are the primary document for a COSHH assessment? If so, then disregard their comment. Safety data sheets are just one of the sources of information and, as the HSE have stated in their guidance to their own inspectors: “HSE’s experience suggests that a large proportion of SDSs do not provide adequate or correct information on hazards and exposure controls.” – from Topic Inspection Pack, Work Related Contact Dermatitis, Skin Disease

Easy there Chris, OP didn't say this was presenter's words. Hopefully an aside from a fellow delegate.
MSDS for a Zoonosis would presumably be authored by..........God?

I take your point. Unfortunately much of my work involves situations where due to incorrect or misleading information people have taken action with the best of intentions but which has actually contributed to the health problem. Perhaps as a result I have a greater concern than normal when erroneous statements are made. Incidentally, I do try to introduce humour into the courses we run, but not at the expense of accuracy.

Presumably if you accidentally ingest a Zanusi, after it has gone through all the necessary bodily functions the resultant waste would be covered by the WEEE regs?
