Has anyone out there experience in accessing the risks and producing safe working methods for exothermic lance cutting equipment that they would be willing to share? Our engineering team are considering purchasing this equipment and have asked for feedback in respect to health and safety, this is the first time I have come across this particular equipment. Many thanks Linda

Back to 1st principles, I think of risk assessment. Sounds like the usual hot work procedures / welding etc (PtW possibly) Control of fumes / ventilation Gas safety / storage PPE - overalls, boots, face/eye protection Workplace control - removal of flammable materials from the area if possible or use of fire blankets. Control access by others if a potential problem Fire safety - isolate alarms, if needed while work underway (alternative alarm raising etc)
