Hi all
Can anybody tell be whether or not any of the courses below would stand a person in good stead for getting a Roustabout job on the oil/gas rigs/platforms, with the view to eventually getting into the H&S side of life, say after a year or so. Also if there are any that I’ve missed that you’d recommend or if you’d delete any of thos below could you please let me know?
OPITO approved Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) OPITO approved Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) NEBOSH NGC NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety & Risk IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management
Thank you very much

Stuart, Could I respectfully suggest that you send an email to glenys.neville@iosh.co.uk and ask to be put in contact with someone from the offshore group. Glenys is the Networks Officer for that group. I hope that this will assist you in answering the questions posed. Kind Regards, Ciarán

Minimum for Roustabout is BOSIET, MIST and Banksman/Slinger. You can usually do these rolled up inton one called "Greenhand" Training. See Falck Nutec, Petrofac, Maersk Training etc. in Aberdeen area, ttey all organise combined courses. It won't guarantee you a job though but it's the least you need to set foot on a chopper nowadays Good luck
