slope to warehouse with a 1 inch lip. need advice

Our warehouse entrance is on an incline and the floor has a one inch lip which means when pulling pallets they are getting caught on the lip and causing the pallet to jolt.
We have just paid out on a claim regarding an accident that resulted in a hernia due to this.
Is there anything on the market i can purchase like a thin ramp that can be removed each night?

Your local metal fabrication workshop will be able to make you a simple ramp - which will fulfil your needs. It is likely to be heavy though - so does it need to be removed daily?

Lisa,
I'd further explore the manual handling aspect 'up an include' using a pallet truck (you've probably done so already). Could powered pallet trucks be used?
Was this the considered factor with the hernia rather than the transition / step itself? I'd imagine a hernia would be difficult to prove / relate to a workplace injury as a hernia could result from many activities (football, dancing etc.). Additionally, some people are more susceptible to hernias (men for a start)! Also hernias often go unnoticed for a period of time, therefore again difficult to relate to current activities.
In pursuit of offering options, could the step be grouted to ensure a flush transition?
Good luck

Lisa,
I thought I'd bring this back to the surface being an interesting post!

hand pallet trucks are a major manual handling nightmare. All to do with joules in starting, stopping team handling etc. I have done risk assessments and a simple training course in the past. I'm sure I could dig them out if you wanted. Agree that a powered pallet truck would be better although more cost. Again I have plenty on this.
You still need to resolve the lip issue anyway.
