Can anyone enlighten me as to the current standard in considering smoke alarm selection. I know of: - BS EN 14604:2005 - BS 5446 Part 1 Are either of these acceptable still or is there something more current I should know about?

The new standard is BS EN54:Fire detection and fire alarm systems. BS EN54:5 covers heat detectors, 54:7 smoke detectors and 54:8 flame detectors.

Thanks Jonty - I don't suppose you can offer any advise on the transition requirements, i.e. are the other standards simply invalid now when purchasing or is there a period for phasing out etc. ?

Need to amend that, that standard is older than the EN Standard I quoted, are you sure the BS 54:7 is up to date? I'm still researching it now, I'll keep you posted on any updates
