Is there a specific distance rubbish skips should be sited away from buildings, they contain normal household type rubbish ,furniture etc.
My local Fire Service advises a minimum of 6m ,is this an advisory distance or is there a regulation ??

An advisory I believe, I cannot find any Regulation that imposes the distance rule; the requirement is to remove the possibility of arson where the close proximity of the skips would lead to a real risk of transfer to the building.
Involved with Fire Risk Assessments (FRA's) for some years and having regular contact with the Fire Inspectorate I know that this issue features on the Company FRA Document that I have used and is also a feature of the Fire Inspectorate Audit Tool, certainly for the commercial site/s that I have had responsibility for.

Thank you for your help, the skip poses no risk to the building in the event of arson in its present position of 20ft away edgeways on.
The local authority jobsworth put the building into non compliance (its a care home)because "it breached regulations"
I was virtually certain that there was no set distance but thought it best to double check before contacting this person to see which regulation he thinks it breaches,if he knows something we dont I will let you know :-)
