Does anyone have any experience of working in New Zealand in Health and Safety ? I am moving there towards the end of the year - I have a Nebosh General Certificate and qualified Occupational Health Nurse Advisor qualifications. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Libertee

I worked on rotation on a drilling contract on board a platform off NZ over 2012. What I will say is you are picking the best time to get involved in HSE in NZ as they are suddenly waking up to how far behind the rest of the civilised world in terms of attitudes to safety. In fact of you do a little internet research you will see the NZ Govt. is now giving the matter a lot of focus. That said, you will find the "she'll be right" mind set still very prevalent, and their statistics prove it. Don't be put off though, Kiwis are great people and very warm and welcoming and it's a lovely country, not cheap though. Good luck
