Can any one point me towards guidance for dealing with incidents involving hybrid and electrical cars? I am looking at this from the perspective of firefighters. I need to consider the hazards and the appropriate precautions for dealing with them (eg the batteries and their associated electrical hazard). Many thanks. PS the spellchecker wantes to change "firefighters" to "firelighters".......................!!!

Pikeman You need to contact the Association of Chief Fire Officers, they I would suspect collate the data on this. My organisation have provided manufacturers information to Emergency Services and Vehicle Recovery Associations on what to do in the event of dealing with a vehicle involved in an RTC and also what tobe aware of when attempting to put out fires in these vehicles. Most F and R services are well up on this, and have dialogue with the manufacturers. They also have a database on the appliance that shows batteries, location, and instruction for isolation, and what not to cut during extrication. I attended some training on the Nissan Leaf from an ambulance service point of view when working at scene with fire. Basically don't cut any thick orange wires!!! Phil
