What is required for a commercial heating engineer? The following was on a online e-learning site. "Current Regulations require anyone who may come into contact with asbestos to be trained and hold a current Asbestos Awareness Certificate." I know awareness training is required, but is it in the new regulation that a certificate is needed? Comments would be appreciated.

No. But you will want to be able to evidence appropriate training provision.

I think this may depend on the training provider. We do in house training but we also have to provide training for the contractors who come to our site. In the case of our staff, we have an electronic system for recording training. For the contractors we provide a certificate to show they have done the training. I'm pretty sure most training providers would give a certificate as standard, whether a legal requirement or not. And as we usually say, "keep your certificate safe, cos we don't keep copies!"
