Have the following scenario.
Would you report this as a Riddor
The IP was making deliveries to neighbouring customers carrying delivery bin. After making the first delivery he crossed the road carrying an empty tote and felt something snap in his calf area of his right leg. The IP does not know the reason which may have caused this to happen? The IP will be off for more than 7 days so we are going to Report as a Riddor, but wanted to get other views?
Thanks

the sudden injury doesn't appear to have any work connection so I wouldn't report it.

Bill,
In an 'injury' RIDDOR case, you need to ask two question:
i. Did the injury "arise out of or in connection with his work? I would suggest that e.g. walking back to a vehicle having made a delivery would be regarded as a work activity.
ii. Is the injury specified in, or does it fall within the scope of RIDDOR. In this case, from the information you have provided, it appears the injury falls within the scope of regulation 3(2).
If both of the above questions are answered in the affirmative, then the matter is reportable to the HSE under RIDDOR.
I hope this helps.
