Good Afternoon
As an organisation we recycle as much as we possibly can. I am looking for a company who will take away our used egg cardboard trays, these have been used within our Insect Breeding area but we produce and bale at least three pallets a day. Would anyone know of a Essex based company that would take this recycling?
Thanks
Jo

They should be compostable, so search for company's that turn waste to compost.

As Chris says, composting is probably the only option.
Normally egg boxes are not recyclable due to the fibers being very short, they are cardboard at the end of it's recyclable life.
There is a good chance you will have to pay them to take it away.

Don't agree - whilst you would not get anything from a waste paper merchant selling to standard paper mills those that vacuum form egg boxes and drinks holders for fast food drinks find these useful materials. Invariably and despite their short fibres their strength is enhanced with starch (think self composting seedling pots) - take a look at the WRAP web site they will either list, or through their contact us section be able to direct you to companies interested in this type of material.

Don't agree - whilst waste paper merchants avoid this material for standard paper mills those that actually vacuum form these types of product like it due to its low energy pulping characteristic. Egg boxes, fast food drink holders, self composting flower pots are vacuum formed using starch to add the strength and not reliant on long fibres.
Have a look at the WRAP (Waste Recycling Action Plan) or PITA (Paper Industry Technical Association) - both have members and participants covering collection, recycling and re-use.
