You will be in competition with people who have more 'local' knowledge and experience and in addition you may not be applying for jobs in the correct way, maybe your CV is not correct etc. You may even be applying for jobs which require more qualifications and experience than you have in which case you do not get a look in. You should contact some decent staff agencies and take some advice, review your CV to make sure it is as good as it can be and styled for the UK and then be sure to apply for jobs which fit your profile, within reason because there is no issue with being a little ambitious. Also hope for the economy to pick up so there are more job opportunities and also and most important - keep trying.
Regards.
