Hi can anyone advise me if Carpel Tunnel is RIDDOR reportable if it does not involve vibrating equipment? As the guidance on HSE website implies it is only reportable where this equipment is involved, yet HSE Advisor said it this was just an example but did not seem confident in the advice he was giving. Thanks

Hi Here is the direct quote from the HSE website. "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: where the person’s work involves regular use of percussive or vibrating tools" If you are still in doubt, then you could get the regulations (it is regulation 8). Ian

Hi there Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is reportable where the persons work involves regular use of percussive or vibrating tools is reportable but also, Cramp in the hand or forearm is reportable, where the person's work involves proplonged periods of repetitive movement of the fingers, hands and arms .... So I guess it could be reportable depending on the person's job role? I'm not sure if this is very helpful or not - sorry!

Cramp is not the same as CTS. CTS is very specific and relates to the compression of nerves and tendons n the carpel tunnel. Cramps can be caused by repetitive work.
