Good Morning, We install solar PV systems to domestic properties. I had a call from the scaffolding contactor yesterday stating that they are finding it difficult to take down the gable end protection. This is because once the panels have been installed there is not any room to walk on the roof. The scaffold contractor has asked me to provide a solution for this. The obvious solution is to build a tower up the side and work off this, however sometimes this isn't possible due to space restrictions and also there is obviously cost. Cherry picker is another option I have thought of but again is impracticable and costly. Any other ideas ? Thanks

If there's no room because of the panels then presumably the installers must be getting close to the gable. As for method though, something isn't quite adding up. How does the scaffolder usually take down that edge protection whilst providing fall protection for himself? Might be a useful challenge and retort to see a copy of his 'usual' method!
