We are just tendering for a construction project in Guernsey. As the CDM Regulations do not apply in the Channel Islands as they are not part of Britain and they have their own powers to make laws. Q: what regulations do they have?

Try googling "The Guernsey Health and Safety Executive".
Amazing what you can find when looking.

Thanks for that ! If a fellow member from Guernsey was enquiring about our CDM Regs I would have given them the details and not just referred them to the HSE. We all know where to look but when you are busy (as reflected by post at 06:15 hrs) a bit of specialist knowledge would have been gratefully received.

Michael, If your company doesn't know what it's tendering for (no such information in the tender pack then?), you could stick your tail between your legs and go back to the client for said information.
Sounds like you may be at a distinct disadvantage if you haven't worked there before.... unless you are a specialist service of course?

Michael,
As I am not a specialist in their HSE law, I am not best qualified to provide anything other than a link to the relevant website.
But even the most cursory look on that website will get you to the relevant construction regulations for the Island very quickly - certainly quicker than posting your original request and waiting for someone to reply. ;-)

It might be a humour thing, but I can understand why someone would fail to see the funny side.

This is the problem with forums in general and this one specifically (at times, it seems - and I hasten to add, in my own opinion). People are far too quick to criticise. You THOUGHT I was perhaps a little sarcastic? I THOUGHT I provided a reasonable answer, with a well intentioned comment.
My post was both helpful and intended to be light. Perhaps my 'crime' was the lack of some emoticon of some description? :-0 (shock horror)
As for the original post, I do find it interesting that someone requiring a fast answer (particularly so early in the morning), preferred using a communications medium that by definition will incur, perhaps a significant, time delay before receiving a qualified response.
As it stands I still feel relatively good about my own response, being as it was the first and ONLY response to actually direct the questioner to the location where they can find the answer they need.
Merry Christmas.
