Any ideas about procedures ensuring that fork lift trucks and other warehouse vehicles, that their pre-use safety checks have been carried out, and giving evidence of compliance.

Thanks.

Looks good in court though :-)

Create a form, collate forms, managers check forms completed daily - it is 1 answer, there are others.

Or don't have a form (they are evil) and rely on the wounderful safety culture you have fostered and nurtured to ensure that every employee is dedicated in upholding their own checks and the questionning and coaching of anyone they see not conducting such a basic task. This self empowerment will not only lead to enlightenment of those involved but will save the trees! (and keep ones fingers and toes crossed now accident occurrs where a claim is made or criminal charge sought where a court may ask for this wonderful safety culture to be proven in documentary evidence.

In some cases, a completed form has it's uses - the effective and accurate completion of which can be valdiated through self assurance.

Agree. That's why I suggested it. I said dreaded because most employees and employers hate the things. Serve a purpose though and I suggest them all the time.

I've sent you a link (by PM) to the system that we designed/developed which might prove of interest. Has the advantage of showing the current status to anyone passing/about to use the equipment, along with generating a duplicate copy of completed checklists for audit purposes. Just drop me a line/email if you want any more info.
