Good Afternoon All,
I would appreciate some feedback and/or suggestions to a query from one of my maintenance managers.
We will be looking at having pumps (approx. 1-2 a year) coming back to our site for servicing. They will have had effluent pumped through them. My maintenance manager states that they will be cleaned through at site from where they are located before they would be brought back. So my question is, where do I stand on a waste carrier licence? My concern is that although it would have been cleaned at the site there will be residual traces of effluent/bacteria etc in the hard to reach areas and so therefore are we still effectively carrying waste?
Thank you.
Vicki

Hi Vicki
you do not need a waste carrier licence unless the carriage of that waste forms part of your business - ie you make money from doing it.
There is loads of info on the Environment Agency website

I'm not sure you are transporting waste just something dirty, however if you feel you are you may want to look at:- Waste (England and Wales) regulations 2011 http://www.environment-a.../rheoleiddio/129314.aspxThe 7th Question down about carrying own waste, which refers to Section 24(5) of the above regs Happy reading Chris

Whilst transporting items/equipment that has traces of "hazardous" materials on them, I very much doubt that is in the jurisdiction of Waste regulations. If at all appropriate, one may want to to consider the application of Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regs http://www.hse.gov.uk/cdg/faqs.htm
