Ladies/Gents

Do you think that there is a responsibility for the contractor responsible for sampling to send preliminary cfu results to the RP? I ask this as we already send the final results however, we are now receiving preliminary results. At the moment there is a disagreement between myself and the competent engineer on this as the engineer believes there is no point and to await for the final result. My view is, if we get a preliminary result of 100 cfu then the final result will be at least this + some, so we should inform the RP for him/her to make the call on actioning.

Any comments/advice appreciated.

Hi

Our contractor gives us prior warning if any of our water samples show a presumptive positive. This allows us to consider and make arrangements for what action to take in the event that the final results confirm positive (which I've been advised they almost always do). That way when the final test results are back and the confirm positive for legionella we are 'ready to go' with our agreed plan of action.
