Are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays becoming the new Fridays????
There seen to be stories like this popping up all to regular.
I've got to see my boss in a short while- I think I will tell him I need a holiday for 'health and safety reasons'
I wonder what his answer will be...

I am now wondering how you get a red hot grill pan from under the grill with out either burning yourself or setting your tea towel on fire.
Serious bit
PUWER come to mind here - particularly if the cooker was installed in a kitchen used by the public - thinking along the lines of local parish hall

Wasn't really a comment on the grill pan thing. More that this Mythbusters has finally died.
To paraphrase this one....
"Somebody said something, we say this boring thing".
I'm sure media types check this feature on a daily basis.

Very interesting to look through the old Myths, March 2010 for instance is about risk assessments being too complicated to do.
"Carrying out a risk assessment should be straightforward. It's about focusing on real risks and hazards that cause real harm and, more importantly, taking action to control them."
There is currently a thread on the go with very comprehensive guides to the risk assessment process. I'm sure this contradicts the HSE view as copied above!

I'm a bit vague on this, but I had a feeling that section 6 of the HASAWA 74 says that manufacturers have a duty to make the items they are supplying safe for the intended use and provide instructions as to the safe use...?
The upshot of this is that Health and Safety law says you DO have to provide a grill pan handle, as the old asbestos oven gloves are also no longer in fashion, so I hear...
So just how long do you have to wait for the grill pan to cool down before you remove it from the grill?

You have very accurately described Mythbusters there

I read with amusement what seems to be a pretty male response (ok thats sexist, I know) but come on guys, how is it different from removing something from the oven? i think you'll find its because most grills double as ovens these days so this enables greater space utilisation.

And the grill pans double up as oven trays.
I have two ovens each with grill trays with removeable handles.
I am a man, at least I was the last time I looked, and I do most of the cooking in my home.
Merry Christmas all.
