Does anyone know of a code of practice or any other best practice document regarding fire safety in server rooms and data halls? This may be a document from a IT type professional association, Govt body or from the insurance industry. I am particularly looking at best fire safety practice re housekeeping, training, fire detection, fire suppression and means of escape. Thanks

Hi MSSY As you don't provide any other info to determine which jurisdiction that you might be in; it's really difficult to be helpful. I'm really sorry to point this out, but unless there's a BS that covers this [I think there's more than one] you may have to search for a US-based COP on this; and you're still going to have to do a thorough FRA yourself! Im not aware of any free documents but as far as standards that must be purchased from BSI - BS 6266:2011 - Fire protection for electronic equipment installations – Code of practice There are also several British Standards for the various types of Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems. Start with - BS EN 15004-1:2008 - Fixed firefighting systems — Gas extinguishing systems — Part 1: Design, installation and maintenance Bare in mind these standards are principally concerned with property protection rather than life safety.
