We are now receiving small quantities of small lithium batteries, CR123 size, we currently do not have any other type of batteries as waste however we do have a small amount of hazardous waste which is disposed through the correct channels. Apart from the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 is there specific guidance on the disposal of lithium batteries.

Hi John - they are Haz Waste! From your wording, it appears that you may be a waste transfer site site or similar. Try searching for Lithium Batteries on HSE and EA sites! Depending on the quantities etc, will determine how you must proceed. Hazardous, fire risk, you name it! Frank Hallett
