I have been in the safety field for over twenty years, with the majority of my experience being manufacturing based. I was made redundant at the end of last year and want to set myself up in business, ideally short term contracts rather than consultancy.
I would be grateful of any top tips, the pitfalls to avoid, etc., etc.

Do a search as this has been covered many times. Also, have a look at IOSH's guide to starting a Consultancy - lots of good advice in there for you.
