Has anyone heard that the EU will not allow companies to insist that contractors are members/accredited to CHAS, Safecontractor or similar as this is against competition rules? We are just starting to complete our tender packs and were looking to include this requirement.
Thanks in advance

Myth?
Where did you hear this; or is this the start of the rumour?

The logical question is;-
"What qualifications would you accept from a Company based in the EU [for example Romania], since they would not be au fait with CHAS etc?"
If you specify CHAS etc, you could well fall foul of EU legislation on open access for all EU companies - however, this may depend upon the value of the contract.

Hopeful
Assuming you are above OJEC procurement thresholds, you could well fall foul of competition law unless you specify SSIP (of which CHAS is but one member) "or equivalent" or words to that effect.
