I am advising a company supplying live mealworm to the angling & pet industry. We would like to sell the waste bran on which the mealworm has been living and feeding.
However a potential purchaser of the waste has asked us for a material safety data sheet. Is the waste product a COSHH substance and how do we go about providing an MSDS??
Any pointers or suggestion please.

Hi steve
The request for a SDS is both a good thing [they've heard of them] and a bad thing [the "waste" as described wouldn't necessarily attract a SDS requirement].
Have your client identifed the substance as falling within CoSHH for any reason - if so, what?
You don't identify what the "waste" is disposed as. What is going to happen to it after it leaves your direct control? Presumably it will become the recipients' raw material for their process.
Have you checked the "List of Wastes" via the Environment Agency website? Is it a category that attracts additional controls?

On a technical point:-
I understood that it is actually REACH Reg 5 [as the UK version] that specifies the requirement and content of a SDS.
