Hi all if I wanted to have some people running a course for instance a Mechanical handling equipment training course what Train the trainer training would they need and what qualification should I be looking for from the person doing the train the trainer course? Or can any trainer do a train the trainer course? than you in anticipation

I'd say it depends... However as a bench mark - PTTLLS... the person training it will have to be approved to teach that course, but will probably hold CTLLS, / DTLLS or a more traditional teaching qualification. Hope that helps? http://www.theguardian.c...extra3.guardianspecial63

Hi frankhone What are your criteria for a "competent trainer" and what are the technical standards required to be achieved? If this is a topic that requires some formal, Certificated evidence of trainer competence you should find out what is considered to be the acceptable norme. There are 2 different components to being a competent trainer - the training provision itself and the topic-specific technical knowledge and skill. You may well have a technically competent person who simply needs to be provided with some additional skills in presenting and group management for non-assessed in-house training; in which case I would suggest something comparatively low-key open course via a local FE College - normally 3 days[ish]. If the course content is more technically involved, you may wish to consider a more extensive trainer course. Frank Hallett

Hi Thanks for the responses. I do have PTLLS level 4 and am an approved AITT instructor for FLT up to 500 kgs and approved IOSH Managing and working safely provider and an CCNSG /ECITB approved Tutor so I have some quals as a tutor/trainer But would this be enough for me to run an in house train the trainer course
