Hi All My company has a permanent canteen food provider and contract cleaners on site what is our duty to them. When it comes to first aid do they need proved their own trained staff?

Firstly consult your T&C's with the provider as that contract agreement should shine the light some what as to who is to do what, when and where

Legally, under the First Aid regs you only have a responsibility for your own employees. So the contractor must make their own arrangements( not necessarily fully trained first aiders but hey needs some sort of an arrangement for first aid). On the other hand, it might be mutually convenient for you to share first aiders which is what we are doing on our site. So no legal duty but working together is always better than trying to set up separate systems.
