As I am sure you are aware: Every employer shall make a suitable and sufficient assessment of: (a)The risks to the health and safety of his employees to which they are exposed whilst they are at work and; (b) The risks to the health and safety of persons not in his employment arising out of or in connection with the conduct by him of his undertaking. 1. How do you interpret what Regulation 3 actually means - other than risk assessments? 2. What action(s) do you take to comply with a&b - other than risk assessments?

Is this a trick question? As far as I can tell it means what it says on the tin- you need to risk assess work activities. Whether you should be providing one risk assessment for everything you do or lots of separate ones for all the different activities you do is a moot point but the thing that reg 3 tells you to do is a risk assessment.

Gunner, you have missed out the next line that tells you what the purpose is: "for the purpose of identifying the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed upon him by or under the relevant statutory provisions and by Part II of the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997"
