Having individually monitored our workforce 12 months ago to record their levels of personal exposure to the chemicals they use on a daily basis, and getting results of between 3% and 47% of the daily OEL, given recorded exposure is so low, how often do I need to conduct this monitoring?
The company we used has recommended every 3 months (for obvious financial reasons on their part) but we stated that given the low levels recorded and the fact that our processes haven't changed, we considered a 12 month review and following said review, and concluding our processes STILL haven't changed, should we be undertaking this highly expensive monitoring yet again?

Sorry 47% is not "LOW". The accepted standard is to aim for around 1/3 of the WEL. I would investigate the 47% - what is the pattern? Is this an 8 hr or 40 hr TWA? If this is over 8 hr, you may be getting much higher levels briefly. Overall I would consider less monitoring of those in the 3% area and more in the 47% exposures. I would also refer to HSG173 "Monitoring strategies for hazardous substances" http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/books/hsg173.htm - free download
Hope this helps
